Welcome!

I am a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) and experienced postpartum doula currently providing support services in the DC area. I believe that doula work is social justice work, and that everyone, regardless of race, gender, sexuality, citizenship status, or income, deserves time and space after they give birth to process, be held, and heal. I am a listener and an advocate by nature (and training) and I would love to be part of your team!

I became interested in doula work while completing my undergraduate degree in anthropology at Washington University in St. Louis. My primary focus within the field of anthropology was sexual and reproductive health. Through my research, I encountered staggering information on racial disparities in infant and maternal health. I also came to understand how doulas are working to fill in the gaps in birth care for queer families. I listened to the stories of so many people who wished they had had access to a professional whose primary purpose was to have their backs and to provide consistent, non-judgmental, compassionate care during the perinatal period. Outside my studies, I was working as a peer counselor for a 24/7 mental health support hotline, co-writing and directing a play about reproductive justice, and babysitting for several families with infants and young children. I came to intimately understand the need for non-medical support for life transitions and other emotionally intense experiences.

I am here to help you discern what you want for yourself and your child/children in a world constantly sending mixed messages about the “best” way to parent an infant. Above all, I am here to affirm you and your choices.

I am gentle, nurturing, empathetic, informed, and sunny. I am also Cuban-American, queer, and Jewish. I primarily provide services in English but am also able to connect in Spanish and Portuguese. If you would like to learn more about my practice or set up an informal phone or Zoom meeting, please contact me!
